Review of Zoe and Beans: Zoe’s Christmas List by Chloe and Mick Inkpen
Today, we hear from Bookbabbler Wendy…
This storybook is part of a series of Zoe and Bean books by the father and daughter duo. Of course Mick Inkpen is also famous for the great Kipper the Dog and Wibbly Pig books and this book lives up to their standard.
Zoe is writing her Christmas list and this year she is going to make sure that Father Christmas gets it right by sticking her note herself to the North Pole as there is only one thing that she wants and that is Kylie Kurlz. It is a very long way to the North Pole and they travelled there on buses, trains, boats and planes and for the last bit of the journey Bean swam and Zoe sat on his back. Along the way they rescue a polar bear cub, slide in the snow, and then the sticky tape won’t stick to the North Pole! On the way home they get caught in a blizzard, have to rescue the polar bear, and even see Father Christmas and Zoe decides surprise Christmas presents are the best.
A wonderful Christmas story, which is illustrated beautifully, with an amazing pull-out page where Zoe and Bean are rescuing the little polar bear. My children loved it and wanted to know when they could go and visit Father Christmas at the North Pole!
Thanks Wendy and thank you to Macmillan for sending us a copy to review.
