Review of Level 2 by Lenore Appelhans
Lenore Appelhans is a well known YA blogger, so I have been really excited about reading her debut novel.
Level 2 is described as a waiting room between earth and heaven. Felicia Ward has been trapped in Level 2 since she died. Her days are spent reliving her memories in a hive like environment. Felicia can plug herself into old memories, both good and bad, and watch them over and over again. We are not given a time frame of how long Felicia has been in Level 2, as she herself does not know how long she has been dead. However, everything changes when a boy whom Felicia knows bursts into level 2 to find her.
There is a great deal of mystery surrounding Felicia and the mysterious boy who breaks into level 2. I instantly got the feeling that Felicia is more important than she realises. I liked the way that there is a lot of suspense in the novel, it made me want to keep on reading to find out what would happen.
I really enjoyed reading Level 2. It is cleverly written with the text alternating between Felicia in level 2 and Felicia reliving her memories. It made me feel that I could get to know her character and background better. The plot has lots of twists and turns and kept me gripped to the very end. This is a unique story that was a joy to read. I can’t wait for the next installment.
Thank you to Usborne for sending me a copy to review.
I also got the chance to meet Lenore last week at the launch event for Level 2 at an amazing venue called IceTank in London. It was a fantastic evening where we had the chance to have a Level 2 manicure by Boom Nails, mocktails and cake.
Thank you to Amy at Usborne for inviting me.
