Bookbabbler Wendy has reviewed Lunchtime for us…

This book is by the same author as Missing Mummy. Though is tackles a completely different topic it is still written with the same sensitivity and from the child’s viewpoint.

This is a story about a little girl who didn’t want to eat her lunch as she’s just not hungry and is far too busy sit and eat. A visiting crocodile, bear and wolf however are very hungry and eat her lunch all up, so when it comes to dinnertime she is very hungry and eats every last bit up making sure that the crocodile, bear and wolf don’t get any.
This dinnertime battle tale is a familiar scenario for parents and children and my children recognised themselves in the story and thought it was very funny.

The illustrations are beautiful full of colour and character and illustrate the story well. My children loved the ones of the crocodile, bear and wolf as the animals are friendly bright and imaginative.

The book is simply written so is also a good story for early readers and my 5 year old had a go at reading it with the illustrations helping him to work out the words. This book has become a favourite in our house and we will be keeping an eye out for more books by Rebecca Cobb.

Thanks Wendy and thank you to Panmacmillan for sending us a copy to review.
