Review of Zoe and Beans: Hello Oscar by Chloe and Mick Inkpen
Today we hear from Bookbabbler Wendy…
This storybook is part of a series of Zoe and Bean books by the father and daughter duo. Of course Mick Inkpen is also famous for the great Kipper the Dog and Wibbly Pig books and this book lives up to their standard.
Zoe and Bean are in the garden where Bean has found something exciting, a guinea pig and then other animals start appearing, another guinea pig, a tortoise, a chameleon and then a parrot. Zoe thought this morning I had one pet and now I have loads and then she realises Beans is missing and all the parrot will say is ‘hello Oscar’ driving Zoe mad and then she hears Hello Zoe but it isn’t the parrot talking it’s her new neighbour Oscar who has found Beans.
A delightful little book with lovely illustrations that made my children laugh out loud especially when Zoe was getting so cross that all the parrot would say was hello Oscar! I loved the modern use of Zoe using Google in the book to look up what chameleons eat as are IT literate children can relate so easy to that.
Thanks Wendy and thank you to Macmillan for sending us a copy to review.
