Review of Nanny Fox by Georgie Adams and Selina Young
This book was grabbed and read by my children as soon as it arrived, as we have lots of chickens, and it didn’t disappoint. The story is about Arnold Fox who loved chickens not to eat but as friends, he loves watching them and would only eat peanut butter sandwiches. One day he sees that Mrs Buff Orpington is advertising for a Nanny for her new chicks and applies for the job! After getting over her shock Mrs Buff Orpington appoints him and he is soon enjoying his new job. At the end he becomes a hero as he saves Mrs Buff Orpington from being eaten by his own family.
The illustrations are lovely and cute and we really liked the ones of Mrs Buff Orpington in her pinny! There are a number of points within the book where the text is in a larger font and this helps to stress the stories actions and feelings.
A delightful tale that shows it’s okay to be different and do what you believe in, with the added bonus that it’s all about chickens for my peanut butter loving children who love chickens to watch and not to eat also!
